Major Construction & Renovations

<p>At the core of Ohio State University’s new initiatives is a commitment to redefining the student experience with a focus  on enhancing the education of students beyond the classroom through an innovative second-year plan. This initiative allows for a two-year on-campus residency requirement designed to lead to higher graduation and retention rates, improved student engagement and satisfaction, as well as post-graduation success.</p>
<p>To allow this groundbreaking second-year experience to achieve its full potential, it was made clear that facility improvements must be integrated with program innovations. The North Residential District creates a unique living environment that is designed to incorporate the elements of student success, programmatic needs, architectural innovation, student and faculty interaction, and One University Framework Principles.</p>
<p>Infrastructure and enabling projects began in the summer of 2013. The project was completed Fall Semester, 2016.</p>

<p><strong>Completed August 2013</strong></p>
<p>This project renovated Park, Stradley, Smith, Steeb and Siebert Halls, while also constructing new building additions between Park-Stradley and Smith-Steeb. The two additions added 380 new beds, bringing the total to over 2,480 beds in the 5 buildings, and created new lobby and common space for students residing in the building. The renovations included the addition of air conditioning and a complete renovation of the bathrooms and student rooms.</p>

South High-Rises Renovation & Addition (28 photos)

<p><strong>Completed August 2012</strong></p>
<p>This project is a six story residence hall that provides suite style living, with 6 students per suite. It also provides 7 staff apartments at street level, indoor bicycle storage, a student lounge area that connects to an outdoor patio and green space and an abundance of common space for the students residing in the building.</p>
